DC Reveals Some Potential Black Lanterns – Dibnys and Dr. Light?!
DC’s The Source blog revealed a page from Green Lantern 43, which serves as a prologue to the big summer Blackest Night event.
There are a couple of interesting ideas indicated in these panels, but maybe the most interesting (to me, at least) is the idea of Ralph and Sue Dibny being on the same “team” of the person who raped Sue – Dr. Light. The only thing I could think of that could be worse would be having the woman who killed Sue – Jean Loring – as a Black Lantern.

If they bring back Vic Sage (aka The original Question)
Robert Parizek | June 17, 2009 | 4:26 pmIf they bring back Vic Sage (aka The original Question) as a Black Lantern Zombie shit then fuck it I am done with DC Comics.
Also if Ralph (aka the Elongated Man) comes back as a Black Zombie Lantern — BLAH! What a great way to spoil these characters past history by doing as such.
Suddenly I am not as interested in Black Lanterns event. Why do all the dead have to rise, I guess I don’t get the whole Zombie fandom. Blah.
The way I understand it, whoever comes back as a
Dustin Christian | June 17, 2009 | 4:41 pmThe way I understand it, whoever comes back as a Black Lantern will and won’t be their original selves.
I don’t really see it as part of the zombie fandom, either, but more of a chance to see the characters I missed again.
And to see a Superman and Martian Manhunter go bad!
Okay wait, is it me or does that sound like
Robert Parizek | June 17, 2009 | 5:21 pmOkay wait, is it me or does that sound like a cope-out by DC. Is it the whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas idea? Blackest Night — all the Black Lantern characters are basicily dark, evil clones of their former selves just to help facilitate this storyline but at the end of the day, it is not really an evil Martian Manhunter so rest easy?
I know that DC does not even try to keep any continuity in their books anymore but it just seems that if this has not baring in the DC Universe other than for the means of sales, why buy into it? Sure if its written well the Black Lantern Superman of Earth-2 kicks some serious evil ass until he gets it handed to him but then what? They just go dead again and next story?
I have loved both Green Lantern and the Green Lantern Corps and its build up the Rainbow Lanterns but now this story arc of it all seems like it really won’t have any barring and is kinda meaningless.
If the heroes realize that these are nothing but evil clones of these characters former selves, will it even matter to them while they are dealing with them? Will Hal Jordan hold back when blasting evil Black Lantern Aquaman knowing its not his friend?
I don’t know but again suddenly this whole Blackest Night is starting to seem lame before it has even started for me. Perhaps if it wasn’t being marketed as EVERYONE who ever died in the DCU comes back to life (ie. recent DC solits) when previously it was teased with the occasional few rising back up. *shrugs* Maybe too much info is spoiling me…
Also I do see this as cashing in on the whole zombie fandom and the recent Batman solits sell just that, all these ppl back from the dead and how does the Bat-family deal. I guess quickly once they Red Robin shouts back, “Hey, guess what? These aren’t people we care about!” and then pounds Black Lantern Daddy Drake back into the dirt.
*yawn*
I really want to enjoy Blackest Night but man, just not working for me right now regardless of seeing old characters in new Black Lantern costumes. Again if The Black Lantern Question appears — that’s it, I am done with DC.

Sit your crotchety ass down and read the damn comic.
You are right about one thing -- I am addicted
Robert Parizek | June 18, 2009 | 4:08 pmYou are right about one thing — I am addicted to comics and that said, it would be hard to be “done with DC” but I have cut down my intake of the DC books lately and likely I would cut down more if what I mentioned happens.
I will vote with my dollars ’cause that is the only way the companies put out the books listen, sadly. That said, I throw tons of my dollars towards so books like Captain Britian and they still get canceled so who knows how things work.
I know I sound like a cranky old man but I am not, least not yet. I guess I don’t find Tim Drank pounding Black Lantern Daddy Drank back into the dirt appealing in any way.
