Brian Hughes May Know Who The Red Hulk Is

My ongoing theory has been that the Red Hulk is really General Thunderbolt Ross, mainly supported by the “military” vibe I get from Red Hulk and the idea that it would be terribly ironic if Ross became a reflection of what he hates most.
It was a pretty good theory, I thought, but then Brian Hughes of Again With The Comics came up with an even better theory that even satisfies that military vibe I had been getting:
Major Glenn Talbot was a longtime thorn in the Hulk’s side, while serving as Bruce’s romantic rival for Betty. Talbot even married Betty for a time, but that ended fairly quickly in divorce. He met his alleged death in Incredible Hulk #260, having stolen the experimental War Wagon to wage a desperate last-bid attack on the Hulk.
[...]
So Talbot “died” under a deluge of molten lava while mentally bonded with a fantastical computerized battle wagon/artificial intelligence and was declared dead with no body found. Yeah, that’ll stick in a universe where even Uncle freakin’ Ben eventually came back. We’ve already seen that Red Hulk emits incredible, volcanic heat, recognizes most of the Hulk cast, and there are certainly enough back doors in that “death” to exploit, so I guess we’ll see. Whadda you think?
I think that’s a damn good theory. The only fault I can really see is that it may be too good of an idea for Jeph Loeb to have come up with.
Check out Brian’s post to read more of Talbot’s backstory and Brian’s theory.

Theory on Red Hulk: Clay Quartermain. Samson checked his vitals
Ramos | October 31, 2008 | 4:44 pmTheory on Red Hulk: Clay Quartermain. Samson checked his vitals but later showed that he was in with Red Hulk. Sampson would have faked it or used a LifeModelDecoy (Shield issued of course). Quatermain was always a company man, so he has no problem taking assignment. Elite military trained, he has the same personality displayed by Red Hulk. Hulk’s history has old ties to Quartermain’s, usually negative. Food for thought.
where's the moron angrily insisting it's samson "cause I know
festie | December 9, 2008 | 8:01 pmwhere’s the moron angrily insisting it’s samson “cause I know and you know im right” at? just started reading comics again after about 15 years and the first person that came to mind was the bullying Glen Talbot.having had experience with an older step brother i know the worst thing you could do to a bully is making them out for the cowards they are. but that just makes them want REVENGE.talbot with the power of the hulk? WOW the damage he could do.just a theory cause this being the marvel uni… it could be anyone.
I'm sorry, festie, but... what?

I just hope the Red Hulk thing doesn't get dragged
draco | January 20, 2009 | 1:09 pmI just hope the Red Hulk thing doesn’t get dragged out like the Hobgoblin thing years ago because it might come to the point where no one cares who he is revealed to be.
Very good point; I'd forgotten how far they dragged out
Dustin Christian | January 20, 2009 | 9:44 pmVery good point; I’d forgotten how far they dragged out the Hobgoblin reveal.
I believe that's right. It just came to me today
Kyle | June 8, 2009 | 1:40 pmI believe that’s right. It just came to me today while I was eating, I googled Betty Ross and came across the name Glenn Talbot. It all seems to fit. At the end of Hulk #12 when the Elder brings the dead body of Jarella to the Hulk, the Red Hulk who had been momentarily defeated got up and said to him “I started this game hoping for your death. I realize now that I’ve left you even worse off than dead. With a broken heart. Just as you left me, Banner“
