Two men clad all in green enter the arena from opposite sides. They eye each-other warily and almost regretfully before one yells “You’ve had this coming for a long time, fascist pretty boy!” and fires a boxing glove arrow. A green mattress materializes out of nowhere and blocks the arrow while a big green boxing glove flies across the arena and knocks the marksman out.
Green Lantern wins the battle and continues my streak of correct predictions.
Which brings us to our current rankings. Make sure to read all through this one, because I have a new opportunity for bonus points after the announcement of this week’s battle.
AJ is padding his lead with five first round points for correctly predicting victories for Martian Manhunter, Thor, Red Tornado, Captain America, and Green Lantern, fourteen bonus points for posts on his myspace blog and view askew, and three more bonus points for signing up for an account on The Forums of Awesome for a total of TWENTY-TWO POINTS!
RJP is still chasing AJ in a battle of initials. RJP has two first round points for supporting Batman and Red Tornado, 14 bonus points for posts on Between The Staples and his Facebook account, and three bonus points for signing up for the Forums of Awesome for a total of NINETEEN POINTS!
Correct predictions are proving to be the big difference between these two.
In third place, Midknight has five first round points for knowing that Batman, Thor, Red Tornado, Captain America, and Green Lantern ain’t nothing to mess with, six bonus points for posts on ComicVine, one bonus point for helping Mike search for Batboat pictures, and three more bonus points for signing up with Forums of Awesome, for a total of SIXTEEN POINTS!
In fourth, Xers has four first round points with victories for Martian Manhunter, Thor, Red Tornado, and Captain America, two bonus points for posts on Cre8Buzz and BlackPlanet, and three more bonus points for signing up with Forums of Awesome for a total of NINE POINTS!
Patrick D. is in fifth place with two points for backing Batman and Martian Manhunter (I wonder who he’ll pick when they fight eachother?”), two bonus points for posts on Patrick Says and his Twitter, and three more bonus points for signing up at Forums of Awesome for a total of SEVEN POINTS!

This week, along with a new battle, Awesome Arena has a new home! Make sure to head over to the new Awesome Arena site to help decide who will win the latest battle between Hulk and Wolverine and then come back over here to let me know who you think will win and why!
Also, while you’re over at the Arena site, take a look around, check out all the new stuff like the wiki and archives and let me know what you think about moving the standings and breakdowns over there as well.
Which is where more bonus points come in. Let me know not only who you think will win, but what methods you think they will employ in order to win. If I use your ideas in next week’s breakdown, I’ll award you five bonus points!!
Make yourself heard, people! Will it be brute strength or cunning and guile?
Only you can decide!

It’s been done to death. Wolverine’s first Appearance was in a Hulk comic and that’s how Hulk dealt with him then and then he did it again in Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk. It’s just not original enough for me. Granted my description of te fight wasn’t quite as climactic but it was still original IMO.
Woot! Hell yeah on that lead. Anyway, sorry I haven’t written up my comic Con review, I’ve just been fucking exhausted. By now, any scoop I had has been long dished on all the other comic sites, but still, hopefully tommorow I’ll write it all up.
As for my pick, I’ll have that tommorow too. Gotta mull this one over.
Okay, fuck it, I made up my mind. I got Hulk for this one.

And heres my breakdown.
Wolverine automaticly jumps out at The Hulk. He knows his only chance is to do as much damage as he can quick. He slashes the Hulk twice across the face, blinding him. Unfortunetly, nothing makes the Hulk madder than not being able to see! (Okay, a lot of stuff probably makes him madder..but he’s pretty pissed). The Hulk grabs Wolverine and throws him in to the arena wall, making an indent. He then runs full force in to Wolvie, busting him up pretty bad. Wolverine fights back by stabbing his claws deep in to the Hulk’s chest. The Hulk is stunned for a moment, but not long enough. He grabs Logan’s arms, and rips with all his strength, tearing them off at the shoulders. He uses both to slash Wolvie across the face like Wolverine had done to him, and blinding him. He then stabs one arm through Wolverine’s chest, and the other through his neck. To put the coup de grace on him, The Incredible Green Goliah puts Wolverine’s head in his hand and squeezes, crushing it to smithereens. Finally, he rips his legs off and tosses the various remaining body parts in to the crowd. Wolverine might be coming back…but not any time soon.
Wolverine wins by popping only 1 claw *snikt* and cutting off the Bulk’s balls effectively turning him back to Puny Banner in which Logan uses the other claws to finish the job. End of story. ![]()
AJ - No worries on the NYCC wrap-up. I’ll put up your personal takes whenever you get them in. Also, nice gore!
Robert - this is starting to feel like that Jeopardy skit on SNL where you keep on choosing “The Rapists for 500″. Are you trying to lose?!?!
Of course, it will be funny as hell if Wolverine won and I had to use Robert’s take on it since he’ll probably be the only one to write one for Wolvie….
Almost forgot to post over at View Askew this week!

Maybe it’ll drum up a few last minute votes…

As posted on the “Official” Site:
“Shit this one’s tough but it’s gonna come down to who can take down the other the fastest. So with that said I’m going with the Hulk. And this is how I think he’d do it:
The Hulk and Wolverine enter the ring. Wolverine trash talks a little which just pisses the Hulk off more. The bell sounds and the two combatants blast out of the corners, charging at one another. Wolverine gets there first with his trademark claws out and ready for rippin’. He ducks below the Hulk and stabs him in the back of his right thigh and his left kidney. The Hulk roars in pain. Wolverine just fucked himself. The Hulk swings around violently, tossing Wolverine back first into his own corner. The Hulk charges after him and lands a huge fist right in Wolverines face. Wolverine is out cold but The Hulk isn’t done just yet. He follows up his attack with some major blows to the body, causing Wolverine massive internal bleeding. Finally the Hulk lifts Wolverine compact frame clear over his head and throws him clear out of the arena.”
