You Have GOT To Be $@%$% Kidding Me - Again

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting and don't forget to tip your waitress!!

Marvel just released the following image under the headline “Phoenix Rising?” and the words “Stay Tuned”

Phoenix Rising?
Judging from the fact that this image also features Cassandra Nova, The Brood, and Proteus, and the artist is David Lynch, the cover artist for X-Men: Legacy, this probably means nothing and is just a cover for Legacy released to build up hype. But I am sick to death of Jean Grey returns and Phoenix in general. To paraphrase the R to the J to the P, I love this about as much as I love One More Brand New Day.

In other news, thanks to everyone who sent me “Get Better” e-mails, I’m feeling tons better and I’m pretty sure I’ll live. I’m still catching up on alot of work I missed, but there should be more content soon - Sunday at the latest, I would think.

Hey um… get better ’cause being sick bites! About as much as bringing back Phoenix.

Heh… thanks. I really really hope they’re not bringing her back - I’ve never even read the original saga and I’ve had enough of Phoenix.

I loved Morrison sending her off to join the Phoenix Corps Team Group Rockband Orgy. That’s how u end that storyline… well until now.

I worry about how bad Secret Invasion is going to be if Marvel keeps pulling gems like this and World War Bunk, Civil Bore and Messiah Craplex out of the hat lately!

Didn’t read much of Morrison’s run, I was barely getting back into comics when he was on X-Men.

I kinda liked WWH and Civil War, except for the endings… it felt like they were going somewhere good in both and ran out of either steam or testicular fortitude.

Hmm. Well, we all knew it’d happen sooner or later. I think, considering she’s the “phoenix” a mystical creature known for ressurecting itself indefinitely, Jean’s returns are more excusable than say…Magneto “dying” how many times?

Also, I must note, I have zero interest The Brood and Proteus. Nova too, unless we get her reformed, like “Here Comes Tommorow” showed. That would be infinitely more interesting than “I’m back and I’m still pissed…grr…scary/wrinkly face”. Perhaps this reformed Cassandra helps her comatose brother return to the mortal plane? Hmm.

It’ll happen eventually, but all those concepts = LAAAAAME.

I want to see some deaths that LAST, damnit.

Beat that dead horse! Beat it good!!

You know, X-Men has been coasting on the whole Phoenix thing for what now…? Well over 25 years? Wasn’t it about 1980 or so when Claremont, Byrne & Austin did the whole Hellfire Club/Dark Phoenix arc?

Let it GO, man! It’s history. It’s over. Let it die & move on!

I’m not sure when the original Dark Phoenix arc was, but I was still in diapers at the time.

Which is very telling - let it die already, Marvel.

One ressurection that reaaaaaaaaly disappointed me was Ultimate Beast beiing revealed to have been alive the whole time. His death really shocked me when it happened as I had just gotten into comics and began subscribing to UXM three or four issues before it happened.

His death lead to a great development for Storm, and Wolverine’s relationship with her, but unfortunetly that fell by the wayside, and suddenly they brought him back. Don’t get me wrong, I like Beast, but it was just an unneccessary development.

Like I said, we all knew Jean would be back sometime, as will most dead characters, so I suppose if theres anything to complain about, it’s the fucking Brood.

I didn’t pick up UXM until a few issues before Beast came back, so it had no real effect on me.

CrackerBob - seriously check out Morrison’s first trade of New X-Men w/ the great “pitch” at the end of the trade. It is GREAT. I loved Morrison’s run regardless of the art teams.

It’s definitely on my list.

What, they bring back Phoenix before I even miss her? Good grief. I was liking the face of the x-books when they were reducing the mutant powerhouses and bringing in fresh blood, but now…

With everything that’s happening in Marvel U, bringing back Gwen Stacy doesn’t seem such a crazy idea anymore. Heck, at least that would offer new stories.

But I’ll give Marvel the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the X-books if only because I enjoyed Messiah Complex so much. True believer. Nuff said!

I don’t know about benefit of the doubt, but I keep reading just to find out where they’re going with this.

Except for Spider-man. I dropped Spidey like a baby.
