Would someone please put Frank Miller out of his goddamn misery and get him off of All Star Batman?

I could see Jim Lee’s art plenty of other places, though.
The problem, as I see it, is that Miller is trying far too hard to make Batman look like a badass with all this false bravado when the thing that makes Batman such a badass is that he will take you down without saying a word. He’s intimidating by being kinda creepy, not by talking you to death.
I suppose this whole gritty thing worked in Dark Knight Returns because you could believe that Batman was getting worn down by the world around him and had become bitter and jaded. I could believe that over the years, the things he stood for just didn’t matter anymore.
I don’t buy that with a Batman just starting out and trying to keep the world around him at arm’s length by assaulting them with profanity and grit.
I have to agree with your asessment of this situation with the series so far. Lets hope we see a better take on the just starting out Bats in the future.
Actually, Batman: Year One is an excellent take on the beginnings of Batman - Batman Begins borrows quite heavily from it.
Interestingly enough, Batman:Year One was written by Frank Miller, which proves he can do a decent Batman story when he doesn’t confuse Bats with King Leonidas.
Maybe he just needs to be kept in check to prevent writing about The Goddamn Batman.
Driving the Goddamn Batmobile.
Down the Goddamn streets.
Of Goddamn Gotham.
In the Goddamn rain.

Hi there.
I have to admit that the only real attraction to this title so far is Jim Lee’s art. Otherwise this is just a waste of a good tree. I just can’t beleive that even this early in Bruce Wayne’s career as the Batman, that he was ever this ” Blood thirsty ” or laughing menacingly like the Joker, who he as of yet has not run into.
